FAQS

How do I use Case Players?

Just visit the Home page, where you will find six main sections. Each of these sections groups together case commentaries on a certain area of insolvency law, eg, Liquidation. Click on one of the sections which interests you. You will be taken to a list of the case commentaries featured in that section and can look at more about any one of them by clicking on the star to the left of the case name. To find out a bit more, click on ‘View More’. This will bring you to the Play button. If you click on Play, you will be able to listen to the case commentary, either in some or all of the designated portions, or the full commentary.

Do I have to listen to the entire case commentary on Case Players, or can I just listen to enough to check that the case is relevant?

No. If you don’t want to listen to the full case commentary just click on any individual portion of the commentary, or on each portion in turn. The subject matter of each portion is as stated in the name, eg. ‘Introduction’. If you decide you’d like to listen to full commentary, you will find the option marked ‘Full Commentary’ at the end of the other portions. Just click on that to hear the whole thing.

Who can use Case Players?

Case Players is intended to assist people who would find it useful to hear information about a legal case, rather than having to read a case report. This could be of interest to the general public with an interest in the law or a specific legal question; law students; staff who support an Insolvency Practitioner in the office; and people with certain vision issues or dyslexia who may benefit from being able to play the commentary aloud. It would even benefit other lawyers who want to revise caselaw whilst getting something else done at the same time!

Can I search for a case?

Yes, just click onto any of the main sections of Case Players on the Home page. At the top left-hand side of the screen you will see Categories, Archive and a search icon. If you click on Categories, you will see a list of categories, with All Posts at the top. If you click on All Posts you will see a list of all cases commentaries which are featured on Case Players. Or, if you click on the search icon and put in a word which appears in a case title, you will be brought directly to that case.
